Shelby serves with community and other health partners through serving on Butler County, Court Appointed Special Advocate Board, working to aid abused and neglected children Butler County.

Shelby also serves as the student advisor for MOSNA (Miami Oxford Student Nurse Association) 

Research

Shelbys' research interests focus on Neonatal abstinence syndrome. She is also focused on the foster and adoption process.
