Richmond, Spahr Named MUM Scholar-Athletes

Miami Middletown student athletes Paul Richmond and Rachel Spahr have been named recipients of the 2014 C. Eugene Bennett Award at Miami University Middletown.

Richmond, a junior education major from Middletown, is a member of the MUM golf team. He has also earned the honor of Scholar Athlete in his sport and currently has a cumulative GPA of 3.77. He is the son of Michele and Bret Richmond of Middletown.

Spahr, a sophomore environmental science major from Franklin, is a member of the MUM softball team. She has also earned the honor of Scholar Athlete in her sport and currently has a cumulative GPA of 3.93. She is the daughter of Eric and Tamara Spahr of Franklin.

The C. Eugene Bennett Award was established in 1985 in honor of Dr. Bennett, Miami University Middletown's first executive director (1965-1986), in recognition of his emphasis on scholarship and his strong support of the Middletown campus athletic program. This award is presented annually to the male and female student athletes with the highest grade point average for the academic year.
