Frank Back Named Head Men's Basketball Coach at Miami Middletown

Coach Frank Back

Frank Back has been named the head men's basketball coach of the Miami University Middletown ThunderHawks. He will be the eleventh head coach in the program's history.

Back is a graduate of Middletown High School where he was a two-time all-conference player and a member of a district championship team.

He earned his bachelor's degree in Business Education at Cedarville University. At Cedarville, Back's senior class finished with the most wins in school history at that time and played on teams that still hold eight school records. Other highlights include playing in a national championship game and joining the school's 1,000 point club. Back went on to earn a master's degree in Educational Leadership from Wright State University.

Back has held head coaching positions at Middletown Christian, Edgewood, Miamisburg, and Lebanon High School. Back's coaching history also includes stops as an assistant at Chaminade-Julienne High School, Franklin High School, and Messiah College in Grantham, Pennsylvania.

Coach Back has been named as District 15 Coach of the Year, Miller Publishing Coach of the Year, and received the NBA Sportsmanship Award. He also served as the District 15 Coaches Association Treasurer for nine seasons.

In recent years, Back has trained high school, college, and professional basketball players. He has worked with players in high profile programs from conferences such as the Big 10, ACC, Big East, Atlantic 10, MAC, and the Horizon League, as well as players from Division 2, 3, and NAIA schools.

Back has taught at Lebanon High School in the business department for the last twelve years. He has also been involved with Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Future Business Leaders of America while at Lebanon.

He is married to Christine, a Miami graduate, and resides in Bellbrook with his wife and their three children.
