Miami University Middletown’s Verity Traditions program will present The Battle of Fallen Timbers: The Archaeology of A National Park on June 22 at 6 pm in Verity Lodge.

Dr. G. Michael Pratt, Miami Associate Provost & Dean of the Regional Campuses, and professor of anthropology, will talk about his archaeological work and its role in the park’s development.

Pratt was integral in the research and archaeological investigations of the battle site during the 1980's and 1990's. The new information revealed about the events of 1794 culminated in identifying and delineating the actual battlefield location. With local, state and federal support, the Fallen Timbers and Fort Miamis National Battlefield site was created and affiliated with the US National Park System.

Verity Traditions continues on August 24 at 6 p.m. when Mark Plageman, Professor of Emeritus of Miami University, will speak about George Remus, the inspiration for the Great Gatsby, and a rather nefarious character from the Prohibition era in Cincinnati.

Verity Traditions connects community and campus with the traditions of Verity Lodge. These programs are free and open to the public.
