Star Power Fills Miami Regionals Artist Series 2019-2020 Lineup

New lineup for Miami University Regionals Artist Series 2019-2020 season

The Miami University Regionals Artist Series today announced its slate of eight live music shows to be presented at the Hamilton and Middletown campuses during the 2019-20 season. Four shows are scheduled for each campus, all on Saturday evenings.

Photo of Joe Mullins and the Radio Ramblers The Fall ‘19 season kicks off at 7 pm Saturday, September 28, 2019, with a double bill of bluegrass music featuring Joe Mullins & The Radio Ramblers and Michael Cleveland & Flamekeeper in Dave Finkelman Auditorium on the Middletown campus. Mullins is an on-air radio personality and a classic character who currently serves as president of the International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA). Mullins (banjo) is backed by a stellar band of musicians and vocalists. Cleveland is renowned for his exceptional skill as a bluegrass fiddler with an energetic style. He made his first performance at the Grand Ole Opry in 1993 as a guest of Alison Krauss. These two bands are different yet perfectly complement each other on stage. Tickets are $32 for adults and $30 for seniors (62+), faculty and staff, students and kids 12 and under.

Rhonda Vincent & The Rage will return to Parrish Auditorium on the Hamilton campus at 7:30 pm Saturday, October 19, 2019. Vincent is a firecracker of talent who powers one of the hottest shows in any genre of music. Her award-winning voice and world-class band reaches beyond the boundaries of traditional bluegrass music and makes for a breathtaking, one-of-a-kind experience. Tickets are $36 for adults and $34 for seniors (62+), faculty and staff, students and kids 12 and under.

Photo of Amy HelmThe Amy Helm Band will perform in Middletown at 7:30 Saturday, November 9, 2019. Helm’s most recent album This Too Shall Light is marked by streaks of Americana, country, blues and gospel, and the kinds of four-part harmonies that can burst open a melody and close the loop of an octave. A lifelong musician and music lover, Helm’s parents, The Band’s legendary drummer and singer Levon Helm and singer/songwriter Libby Titus, guided her training and influences. This Too Shall Light includes two original tracks that pay homage to Levon. Tickets are $32 for adults and $30 for seniors (62+), faculty and staff, students and kids 12 and under.

The David Bromberg Quintet performs in Hamilton at 7:30 pm Saturday, November 16, 2019, completing the fall season. Bromberg is widely regarded as the godfather of Americana music. His incredible journey spans more than five decades and includes adventures with Bob Dylan, George Harrison, Jerry Garcia, and other all-time greats. Bromberg’s mastery of several stringed instruments and multiple styles is legendary. In producing John Hartford’s hugely influential Aereo-Plain album, Bromberg co-invented a genre: Newgrass. Tickets are $32 for adults and $30 for seniors (62+), faculty and staff, students and kids 12 and under.

The Spring ‘20 season opens with Over the Rhine returning to Hamilton at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, February 22, 2020. Comprised of the extremely talented musical couple, Karin Bergquist and Linford Detweiler, Over the Rhine, will quickly bring you under the spell of Karin’s timeless voice that “has the power to stop the world in its tracks.” (Performing Songwriter). According to Rolling Stone magazine, Over the Rhine is a band “with no sign of fatigue, whose moment has finally arrived.” Tickets are $36 for adults and $34 for seniors (62+), faculty and staff, students and kids 12 and under. Note: Online sales for this show begin in December 2019.

Steep Canyon Rangers BandSteep Canyon Rangers with special guest Che Apalache will perform in Middletown at 7 pm Saturday, March 21, 2020. The Rangers push and pull the boundaries of bluegrass music. Their most recent release, Out in the Open, is the band’s sixth album to earn the top spot on the bluegrass charts. Spontaneity adds spark and texture to an energetic setlist, making every show refreshingly different. Che Apalache, a string band from Buenos Aires, Argentina, will open the show. Che’s most recent album was produced by Bela Fleck. Tickets are $38 for adults and $36 for seniors (62+), faculty and staff, students and kids 12 and under.

The HillBenders present Tommy: A Bluegrass Opry at 7:30 pm on Saturday, April 11, 2020, in Hamilton. Originally composed by guitarist Pete Townsend of The Who as a rock opera, this classic of classic rock albums has now been fully realized as a full-length bluegrass tribute paying total respect to its creators. Tommy: A Bluegrass Opry has received ringing endorsements from Rolling Stone magazine and Mr. Townsend. Tickets are $32 for adults and $30 for seniors (62+), faculty and staff, students and kids 12 and under.

Fan favorite Dailey & Vincent closes out the 2019-20 season at 7:30 pm Saturday, April 25, 2020, in Middletown. Jamie Dailey and Darrin Vincent are backed by one of the best bands on tour today. Dailey & Vincent are among the most reputable and elite entertainers in American music: bluegrass, traditional country, and gospel. Members of the Grand Ole Opry, five-time GRAMMY® award winners individually and three-time GRAMMY® award nominees collectively. Tickets are $38 for adults and $36 for seniors (62+), faculty and staff, students and kids 12 and under.
