Miami Regionals to Celebrate Veterans During 3rd Annual Heroes Week

Miami University Regionals will be honoring active military personnel and veterans during its third annual Heroes Week. Events are planned to remember and celebrate the heroism of our nation’s brave men and women. 

Nov. 11, Push-ups for Veteran Suicide Awareness, 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. in Hawk Haven, Middletown campus. An average of 20 veterans commit suicide every day. Show veterans that you have their six in this awareness exercise. Free event, no RSVP.

(Seating in full for this event.) Nov. 11, Veterans Day Dinner, 6 - 8 p.m. in Harry T. Wilks Conference Center, Hamilton campus. The evening will include a free dinner, a silent auction, and a raffle. All proceeds directly benefit the Center for Veterans Services at Miami Regionals Hamilton and Middletown campuses.

Nov. 12, Green Zone Training, 1 - 2 p.m. in 202 Mosler Hall, Dean’s Conference Room, Hamilton campus and Nov. 13 from 1 - 2 p.m. in Johnston Hall, Room 116D, Middletown campus. Green Zone Training aims to provide a safe space for student veterans and active service members. Led by J.P. Smith First Sergeant (retired), USA; Regional Coordinator for Veterans Services. Free event, no RSVP.

Nov. 14, Chili Cook-Off Contest, 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. in the Mosler Hall, Room 108, Hamilton campus. Come to vote on your favorite chili and tour the Veterans Center. Free event, no RSVP.

Nov. 15, Student Veteran Panel, 11 a.m. in Mosler Hall, Harriet Taylor Room, Hamilton campus. Hear Miami Regionals student veterans stories and find out what it is like to be a student veteran. Free event, no RSVP.

Also, keep an eye out for week-long events, including a scavenger hunt for veggterans on the Middletown and Hamilton campuses, a deployment map on display in Schwarm Commons on the Hamilton campus, and military flags displayed in Johnston Hall on the Middletown campus.
