Gardner-Harvey Library Announces Early 2020 Event Schedule

Gardner Harvey LibraryMiami Regionals' Gardner-Harvey Library on the Middletown campus will host numerous free events open to the public.

February 4, Open House at the TEC Lab Makerspace, 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m, Gardner-Harvey Library.  Join us in the Makerspace to try your hand at woodburning or laser engraving your beloved’s name on a wooden heart, making a duct-tape rose, creating a special card or even a piece of jewelry! There will be an opportunity to sign the user agreement to operate the TEC Lab independently.

February 12, Game Night!, 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., Gardner-Harvey Library. Come to Game Night to meet people and play some games!  We will have plenty of board games and video games to choose from and snacks and drinks to energize the players. We'll meet in the Library S.P.A.C.E. (Student Project Area & Campus Events) (GRD 014). The event is co-sponsored by Good Game Well Played (GGWP) and the Gardner-Harvey Library. 

February 19, National Park Talk: Yellowstone National Park, 4:45 p.m. - 6:15 p.m, Gardner-Harvey Library.  Dr. Tammie L. Gerke, associate teaching professor in geology at Miami University, will share the geology and other interesting information about Yellowstone National Park.

March 4, Middletown Maker Faire, 2:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m, Miriam G. Knoll Community Center. See the amazing creations of crafters and makers of all kinds from the Middletown community. Attendees will be able to watch various demonstrations, take part in hands-on activities and browse unique items for sale by community makers.

March 18, National Park Talk: White Sands National Monument, 4:45 p.m. - 6:15 p.m., Gardner-Harvey Library.  Dr. Tammie L. Gerke, associate teaching professor in geology at Miami University, will share the geology and other interesting information about the White Sands National Monument.

April 7, Sublimation Printing in the TEC Lab!, 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m., Gardner-Harvey Library. Stop by the TEC Lab in the Gardner-Harvey Library to learn about sublimation printing. From mugs to shirts, sublimation printing can create high-quality custom items. Participants can create their own items using this special ink printing technique while learning about the process and the types of items this method can be used with. Limited to 1 blank item per person. Additional sublimation blanks can be purchased at a minimal cost. 

April 15, National Park Talk: Big Bend National Park, 4:45 p.m. - 6:15 p.m., Gardner-Harvey Library.  Dr. Tammie L. Gerke, associate teaching professor in geology at Miami University, will share the geology and other interesting information about the Big Bend National Park.

April 22, Human Library, 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m., Gardner-Harvey Library. Participants, or “readers,” can borrow members from the human library serving as open books and have conversations they would not normally have access to. Every human book from our bookshelf represents a different group, occupation or identity in our society. Spend 5-10 minutes with as many books as you would like and hear their stories. 

May 5, Create Your Own Hologram & Hologram Viewer!, 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m., Gardner-Harvey Library. Make your own hologram video in the One Button Studio, then head next door to the TEC Lab to create a mini hologram viewer to show off your video! Drop-in anytime between 11 a.m. -1 p.m. in Rooms 125 and 126 Gardner-Harvey Library.
