Local historian Sam Ashworth returns to Miami University Regionals’ Verity Traditions for a Zoom event on “Wheels of Fortune: The Miami Cycle & Manufacturing Co. in Middletown,” on Tuesday, October 27, at 6 p.m.

Take a trip back in time to learn about the famous Racycle, one of the most innovative bicycles of its time, and the many other prominent inventions produced by The Miami Cycle and Manufacturing Company of Middletown.

The company, which was established in 1895, was one of the companies begun by industrialist Paul J. Sorg. By the early 1900s the company was manufacturing 100,000 bicycles per year and in 1910 began manufacturing the famous Flying Merkel motorcycle.
