Conservatory Guidelines

Users of this facility are reminded that all university infection control policies apply, including:

  • Face masks covering the nose and mouth are required to be worn in any shared space indoors.
  • At least six feet (2 meters) of distance must always be maintained between people.
  • Persons entering this facility must be free of recognized COVID-19 symptoms including: fever, sore throat, anosmia, chills, generalized muscle pain, or shortness of breath.

Visitors

  1. Visitors or deliveries should report to Chelsea Obrebski or email MURConservatory@MiamiOH.edu.
  2. Sanitize or wash hands upon entering facility.

Facility use policies

  1. Work schedules will be coordinated so that typically only one staff person is working in the Conservatory at a time.
  2. When more than one staff member is working in the building strict social distancing rules will apply (>6ft apart at all times) and everyone will wear a face mask (covering mouth and nose) except when in a closed room working by themselves.
  3. Maximum occupancy of rooms is as follows:
    • Research Room: 1
    • Classroom: 10
    • Public display galleries: 6 (during visiting hours)
      • Visitors will only be permitted in the four public display galleries and the bathrooms.
      • Public drinking fountain will be covered to prevent use.
  4. Required PPE in addition to masks
    • Research Room and Classroom: Gloves for disinfecting surfaces and materials used by researcher or class.
    • Public display galleries:
      • Face masks covering the nose and mouth will be required to be worn by visitors at all times while inside the facility.
      • Signage at the Conservatory entrance will inform visitors that they must wear a face mask and wash/sanitize their hands upon entering, and that strict social distancing rules will apply (>6ft apart at all times).
      • The information for visitors regarding wearing face masks, hand sanitizing, social distancing, and building occupancy capacity with be posted on the Conservatory’s website.

  6. Please sanitize materials or equipment used by:
    • At the completion of the daily research activities and at the completion of each staff member's shift, the researcher or staff member will be required to clean all highly touched surfaces (e.g., door handles, tables) and all equipment used by the researcher with a solution of either:
      • 70% ethanol (ethyl or isopropyl) or
      • 10% freshly prepared bleach.
      • Gloves will be worn while cleaning surfaces and discarded in trash after cleaning.

Specific prodcedures

  1. Research Room
    • Anyone wishing to use the Conservatory for research purposes will coordinate their schedule with the either the Conservatory manager (Chelsea Obrebski) or director (Brian Keane).
    • Only one researcher will be permitted to use the research room in the Conservatory at a time.
    • Sanitize or wash hands upon entering facility.
    • If a staff member needs to be in the Conservatory’s research room with the researcher, face masks will be required to be worn and strict social distancing rules will apply (>6ft apart) at all times.
  2. Classroom
    • Anyone wishing to use the Conservatory for instructional purposes will coordinate their schedule with the either the Conservatory manager (Chelsea Obrebski) or director (Brian Keane).
    • Only one course will be permitted to use the Conservatory at a time and the course participants will only be permitted in the four public display galleries, the classroom, and bathrooms.
    • When classes are scheduled, no other visitors will be allowed in the Conservatory.
    • All class participants will be required to wear face masks covering the nose and mouth at all times, to wash/sanitize their hands upon entering the facility, and maintain social distancing rules (>6ft apart) at all times.
    • After each class visit is completed, the instructor will be asked to disinfect all highly touched surfaces (e.g., computer keyboard, tables, classroom doors) in the classroom with a solution of either:
      • 70% ethanol (ethyl or isopropyl) or
      • 10% freshly prepared bleach.
      • Gloves will be worn while cleaning surfaces and discarded in trash after cleaning.
