Hefner Museum Guidelines
Users of this facility are reminded that all university infection control policies apply, including:
- Face masks covering the nose and mouth are required to be worn in any shared space indoors.
- At least six feet (2 meters) of distance must always be maintained between people.
- Persons entering this facility must be free of recognized COVID-19 symptoms including: fever, sore throat, anosmia, chills, generalized muscle pain, or shortness of breath.

- 11 students seated at existing tables, plus 2 instructors.
- Please enter and exit from the hallway door.
- Sanitize hands prior to entry and after exit. Wash the sink handles when you wash hands.
- No blood in this sink. No biological waste in garbages.
- Wet lab: 2
- Sanitize hands in this sink or after exit.
- This room is always considered contaminated. The sink may be used to wash blood. Garbage may contain biological waste.
- Malacology gallery: 10
- 8 people at observation stations, plus 2 instructors
- There is nothing available for touch in this space.
- Sanitize hands prior to entry and after exit.
- Imaginarium: 8
- 7 people at observation stations, plus one instructor.
- There is nothing available for touch in this space.

- Please sanitize materials or equipment used by:
- All spaces
- Books, paper, and other porous, chemically intolerant materials: Remove from circulation for 48 hours.
- Surfaces and tools: Wipe clean with a solution of either:
- 70% alcohol (ethyl or isopropyl)
- 10% bleach (not for use on stainless steel; during public hours, limit use to minimize potential for damage to visitor objects)
- Main galleries: Discovery Trunks have a 7 day wait between loans.
- Classroom: The teacher workstation is to be considered a fomite. Wash hands after each use. It will be cleaned at the end of each day with alcohol.
- Wet Lab: This room and its contents are considered contaminated. Wash hands after leaving.
- Malacology Gallery
- Hard surfaces: Wipe clean with a solution 70% Alcohol (ethyl or isopropyl).
- Furniture: Spray with Lysol at end of day.
- Specimens: Remove from circulation for 7 days.
- Imaginarium
- Spray with Lysol at end of day.
- Ensure that no cleaner impacts the space of any vivaria.
