Elizabeth Walsh

Elizabeth Walsh
Director of Orientation and Transition Programs

Elizabeth Walsh joined the Office of Orientation and Transition Programs staff in July 2015 as Assistant Director and became Director in March 2021. Originally from Peabody, Massachusetts, Liz received a bachelor's degree in Communication from Western New England University in 2012 and a Master's degree in Student Affairs in Higher Education from Miami University in 2014. During her time at Miami, Liz has worked for Miami's Office of Residence Life, both as a graduate assistant and a full-time Resident Director and has instructed several courses focused on career development, new student transition, and even a instructed a study away course in Costa Rica and Panama that focused on having dialogues surrounding topics of privilege, identity, and difference.


Alexis RoachAlexis Roach
Assistant Director of Orientation and Transition Programs

Alexis Roach joined the Office of Orientation and Transition Programs staff in June 2021. Originally from Hiawassee, Georgia, Alexis holds a bachelor’s degree in Education Studies from Arcadia University and a Master’s degree in Higher Education and Student Affairs from the University of Connecticut. Prior to working at Miami, Alexis worked a variety of roles in new student programs, leadership development, and student activities. Alexis is looking forward to engaging with new Miami students, helping them form meaningful connections, and overall contributing to their successful transition to college.

Program Associate

Melanie Watterson joined the Office of Orientation and Transition Programs in April of 2015. Prior to joining our office's staff, she worked in Miami's Telecommunications Department; she has been a staff member at Miami since 2011. Melanie will be your first point of contact should you need to call the Office of Orientation and Transition Programs - she looks forward to helping new students and families make a smooth transition to Miami!


Nathan Flyzik

Nathan Flyzik
Graduate Assistant

Nathan Flyzik joined the Office of Orientation and Transition Programs and Office of Parent & Family Programs as a Graduate Assistant in August 2020. Originally from Plaistow, New Hampshire, Nate received a bachelor’s degree in Communications and History from Keene State College in May 2020. During his undergraduate experience Nate coordinated the orientation program for Keene State, while also serving on multiple committees focusing on the improvement of student transition. Utilizing knowledge from his past experiences, Nate is excited to engage students and families in all Miami has to offer.
