Undergraduate Student Leadership and Employment
Student leaders play an integral role in implementing the mission of Orientation and Transition Programs (OTP). By working with orientation or supporting the year-round functions of OTP, student leaders will:
- learn about leadership styles and strategies.
- build interpersonal and intrapersonal competence.
- become more familiar with Miami University and its structures.
- better understand issues of college student transitions.
- improve written and verbal communication skills.
- learn and practice group facilitation and teamwork strategies.
Undergraduate students may be interested in one or more of the student leadership and employment opportunities in Orientation and Transition Programs:
Graduate Student Assistantships, Internships, and Practica
Graduate students contribute to the mission of Orientation and Transition Programs in significant ways. By working with orientation or supporting the year-round functions of OTP, graduate students will:
- support new students and families through orientation and transition programs.
- serve as a consultant to undergraduate student leaders.
- implement academic theories and concepts into practice.
- build interpersonal and intrapersonal competence.
- become more familiar with university organizational structures and philosophies.
- better understand college student transitions.
