Undergraduate Student Leadership and Employment

Student leaders play an integral role in implementing the mission of Orientation and Transition Programs (OTP). By working with orientation or supporting the year-round functions of OTP, student leaders will:

  • learn about leadership styles and strategies.
  • build interpersonal and intrapersonal competence.
  • become more familiar with Miami University and its structures.
  • better understand issues of college student transitions.
  • improve written and verbal communication skills.
  • learn and practice group facilitation and teamwork strategies.

Graduate students contribute to the mission of Orientation and Transition Programs in significant ways. By working with orientation or supporting the year-round functions of OTP, graduate students will:

  • support new students and families through orientation and transition programs. 
  • serve as a consultant to undergraduate student leaders.
  • implement academic theories and concepts into practice.
  • build interpersonal and intrapersonal competence.
  • become more familiar with university organizational structures and philosophies.
  • better understand college student transitions.
