College of Creative Arts Academic Information
Welcome to the College of Creative Arts
To get started, let’s hear a warm welcome from Gretchen Radler, Assistant Dean and Chief Departmental Advisor in the College of Creative Arts. In addition to welcoming you to CCA, Gretchen provides an overview of CCA and the Global Miami Plan. After the first video, there's a list of helpful documents to download depending on your student's department, then a video about advising and course registration. When you've watched the videos and reviewed the documents, head back to the Family Orientation page to start the next section.
Students have information about scheduling their academic advising appointment in their orientation Canvas site.
Orientation Advising and Registration Preparation
In this section, you will learn how we help your student prepare for academic advising and registration, with tips on how to build their fall schedule. You will find documents associated with departments in the College of Creative Arts below. You should refer to the appropriate documents for your student's major throughout this last video and as you help them prepare for their academic advising appointment. If you have questions about any of these documents, your student's academic advisor will be prepared to answer your questions.

College of Creative Arts Registration notes:
- In order to complete at least 124 credit hours in eight semesters, your student should average 15-16 credit hours per semester.
- Your student should register for 14-17 credit hours this semester. The registration system will not permit them to register for more than 17 credit hours at this time unless they are adding a music ensemble.
- 12 credit hours is considered full time. Scholarships, athletics eligibility, etc. may be tied to your student's status as a full-time student. They should check with the One Stop or their athletics advisor if your student ever needs to register for fewer than 12 credit hours.
