The Rinella Learning Center is here to excel in our mission to support students academically.

We are thrilled to provide remote options for students seeking content-specific assistance:

  • Rinella Learning Center Peer Tutoring: Remote tutoring is by appointment only and is facilitated by highly-trained peer Miami University tutors. RLC peer tutoring allows students to seek help from fellow students who have completed coursework at Miami and have excelled in their subject area.
  • Tutor.com Staff Tutoring: Supplemental remote tutoring is offered through professional tutors through our partnership with Tutor.com. This option is available to students 24/7 and is beneficial when you have an immediate question or concern at any time of day, or if you are unable to find an appointment with a RLC tutor.

ALL of these options are completely FREE for Miami University students. Students are also encouraged to reach out for academic coaching as needed as well.

How to Access RLC Peer Tutoring

Students may schedule in-person tutoring sessions with RLC tutors during normal office hours of Monday - Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Online appointments with RLC tutors will vary and may include tutoring availability during the day, in the evenings, or during weekend hours.

You can access RLC Tutoring by utilizing the TutorTrac scheduling system. To schedule with a RLC tutor, please visit cli.miamioh.edu and follow the scheduling instructions on screen. From the drop-down menu, select whether you want an in-person or online appointment and search for available times. If you do not see appointment times that fit your schedule, try searching the other tutoring availability.

In-person tutoring sessions will take place in Shriver Center, Room 308. For online tutoring sessions, you will log on to the TutorTrac homepage 5-10 minutes prior to your appointment, and a Zoom link will be available to log on to the session. Additionally, you can revisit the Tutortrac page if you ever need to change or cancel an appointment.

How to Access Supplemental Tutoring through Tutor.com

For tutoring appointments outside of RLC Tutoring hours, or to receive supplemental tutoring through Tutor.com, please refer to the instructions below. Note: This is an on-demand tutoring service. You do NOT need to make appointments for this type of tutoring; you simply log on any time that you'd like to connect with someone. Tutors are available for most classes 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. 

Once on the Tutor.com home page, locate the “Topic” section and use the drop-down menu to select the subject for which you are seeking tutoring. Next, from the “Subject” drop-down, choose your specific course. Click the “Chat + Voice” selection if you wish to be able to chat with your tutor.

Enter questions or concepts you are struggling with in the question text box. Then, select “Connect Now Chat+Voice" and wait for a tutor to connect. You can also upload documents and use a white board during the session. These tutors are available 24/7 and free for students to use.
