Colors
Our colors are an extremely important part of our brand. Color offers an instantaneous method for conveying meaning and messages of Miami's brand without words. For that reason, whenever possible, official brand colors should be utilized in all messaging, across all media platforms.
The official university colors are red (PMS 186) and white, and these should be the most prominent colors across all publications. For the formal logo, we incorporate the use of black to set it apart and make it "pop."

Usage Guidelines
- As stated earlier, red and white should be the most prominent colors on any publication.
- Red text on a white background or white text on a red background should be used for printed publications.
- Black text on a white background should be used for body copy online.
- Avoid using black text on a red background, this makes the text difficult to read.
- Avoid using black backgrounds in general.
- Miami University reserves the right to use a darker shade of the Miami Red as a background element in order to create texture.
- Miami red tends to look pink on some monitors/digital displays so we use a different red HEX value online.
- Full color photography should be used to introduce additional colors to a publication.
- Some exceptions may apply to merchandising.

One-Color Printing
When one-color printing is necessary, the entire signature may be printed in one of the Miami colors: Pantone 186, white, or 100% black. These guidelines apply to all the signature treatments.

For use on red backgrounds only.
Reversing the Mark and Signatures to White
When reversing the logo to white or printing it over a dark or black background, use the alternative mark provided for such purposes as shown. The center of the M should only appear as white or red.

For use on red backgrounds only.
