This series of focused workshops is designed to help students build global careers in the United Sstates or abroad. These sessions tackle networking, international business etiquette, employer conversations, international job search strategies, and key career insights for international students. Light refreshments will be served at all events.

Career Fair Prep for International Students

Wednesday, September 20 | 5:30 – 7 p.m. | 1086 Armstrong Student CenterThis interactive Global Professional Development session will prepare international students to get the most out of their Career Fair experience by providing advice on strategies to land internships and jobs. After attending this session, international students will be able to: articulate their skills, experiences, and ambitions through an elevator pitch; strategically market themselves through their resume; take the lead in discussions with employers regarding work authorization (CPT and OPT) and visa sponsorship.

Interviewing for Success for International Students

Thursday, October 3 | 1 – 2 p.m. | 2080 Armstrong Student CenterThis Interview for Success workshop is tailored to tackle the specific challenges that international students may face while interviewing. It will also provide international students with the language and strategies needed to navigate conversations with potential employers. A subsequent Mock Interview day will be held in the spring semester to put the skills from this session into practice. This session is open to all international students at all stages of their Miami experience.

Marketing Your Global Experience

Monday, October 9 | 12 – 1:30 p.m. | Armstrong Student CenterWelcome back! If you've recently returned from a study abroad experience or a global internship, this session is for you! In this interactive session, you will be given language and strategies for articulating your international experiences and how to use them to stand out with employers.

Landing an International Internship

Monday, October 23 | 12 – 1:30 p.m. | Armstrong Student CenterIn this global internship preparedness intensive, we will focus on elevating your global professional profile, including resumes, LinkedIn interview strategies, and professional statements. We will also discuss search strategies and funding sources to ensure you engineer your ideal global internship experience.

Global Job Search Strategies

Wednesday, November 8 | 4 – 5 p.m. | Armstrong Student CenterThis session will provide resources and strategies for job searches outside of the United States. We will discuss the ins and outs of working internationally and common vehicles to work abroad, including fellowships, foreign service, ESL teaching, and digital nomad visas.

OPT to H-1B and Beyond: Post-Grad Job Search Strategies for International Students

Monday, November 20 | 6 – 7:30 p.m. | Armstrong Student CenterIn this session, international students will explore the various ways to build a career in the United States. While this session focuses on securing post-graduate job opportunities, this session will provide strategies and resources that will be helpful for all international students at every stage of their career journey. International students will get realistic insight on: using Career Clusters to maximizing chances of gaining H-1B sponsorship, and transitioning from OPT to H1-B Alternative visa options.
