Graduating seniors recognized at event honoring fallen Marines who were roommates at Miami
This Saturday, Ryan Muzzarelli and Thomas Weston will receive their bachelor's degrees and be commissioned as officers in the U.S. Marine Corps. They received leadership awards at an annual event honoring fallen Marines who were part of Miami’s class of 1967 — Col. William R. "Rich" Higgins and 2nd Lt. Terrence C. Graves, a Medal of Honor recipient.

Miami to award 4,101 degrees: Bonnie St. John keynote speaker
Bonnie St. John, best-selling author, Paralympic skiing medalist and former White House official, will speak at Miami University's spring commencement ceremony at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, May 16, at Yager Stadium. Miami will award 4,101 degrees.

Miami microbiologists' research on biofilms uncovers new clues about how to treat pneumonia
Microbiologist Mitchell Balish, associate professor of microbiology at Miami University, and his graduate students are working to understand the features of Mycoplasma pneumoniae biofilms and determine how their development might be inhibited.

Miami students named Goldwater Scholar, Honorable Mention
Maeva Metz, a junior microbiology major and molecular biology minor from Brookfield, Conn., has received a Goldwater Scholarship. She is one of 260 students nationwide to receive the scholarship, the premier undergraduate award of its type in the fields of mathematics, natural science and engineering.
