Make the best choice your first choice.

Already know that Miami is your first choice? If so, apply as an Early Decision applicant. Early Decision is a binding application option for students who know Miami is their first choice and are willing to confirm their enrollment if admitted.

Along with all other application materials, Early Decision candidates must also submit Miami University's Early Decision Agreement by November 1.

Early Decision Advantages

  • Higher admittance rate than other decision plans. Students who apply Early Decision have an advantage over applicants who choose our other application types. Early Decision applicants typically show great personal and academic promise, and send a strong message by indicating Miami as their first choice college. Considering the size of the Early Decision applicant pool, the admittance rate is typically higher than other decision types.
  • Earlier admission decision notification. Early Decision applicants are notified of their admission decision on December 1, two to twelve weeks in advance of the published notification dates for other application types. Early Decision provides peace of mind in knowing you've been admitted to your first-choice school in December of your senior year – leaving the rest of the year to focus on the successful completion of your high school career.
  • Full consideration for financial aid and scholarships. Miami is committed to making your college experience affordable. Early Decision applicants receive full consideration for both merit and need-based scholarships. Students wishing to be considered for need-based scholarships are encouraged to submit the FAFSA by Miami’s Priority I Deadline of December 1, 2021, and no later than the Priority II Deadline of February 1, 2022.

Reasons to Make Miami Your Top Choice

Our students describe Miami as "college as college should be." Miami University ranks in the top 10 of public universities nationwide by U.S. News & World Report for its commitment to undergraduate teaching and has for the past 10 years. The Fiske Guide to Colleges 2021 also recognized Miami for its "wide range of academic programs with personal attention" in its "Best and Most Interesting Colleges and Universities" list. And with more than 600 student organizations, you have the opportunities to get involved on campus and develop your leadership skills during your time at Miami. For these reasons and more, it's easy to make Miami your #1 choice. We hope you decide to apply as an Early Decision applicant and be the first to join Miami University’s Class of 2026!
