Miami Pathways Program

Miami students enjoy life on campus

What is the Pathways program?

Pathways is for students who have a solid academic record but who are not initially admitted to selective majors on Miami's main campus in Oxford.

Through Pathways, students begin their Miami education as part of an exclusive student cohort on our Oxford campus, enjoying all the benefits of other Oxford-based Miami students. The only differences between Pathways student experiences and those of other Miami Oxford students are:

  • Most first-semester, core courses are taught (in Oxford) by Miami faculty who are based on our Regional campuses.
  • Students are advised by a Student Success Navigator in the Office of Exploratory Studies.
  • First-semester tuition is at the Miami Regionals rate, not the Miami Oxford rate.

Pathways students must complete 16 semester credits and maintain satisfactory academic and behavior standing at Miami in order to gain full admission to the Oxford campus. After one semester and successfully completing Pathways program requirements, students transition to a less structured academic program, with full access to Oxford coursework and a firm foundation for a successful Miami career. After this transition, all coursework is taught by Oxford-based faculty and tuition switches to the Oxford-based student rate.
