Terrestrial Molluscs

Snails are everywhere.  Many are brown and live under trees and leaves; others, especially those in tropical habitats, carry brightly colored homes on their backs.  Some are tiny, like the garden snail featured in the video below.  Others, like the giant African land snail, are larger than some mammals. At least one (escargot) is edible.  All snails help us in many way by providing medicines, tools, currency, and adornment.  Most of all, they are interesting and beautiful creatures.  Click the picture below to hear the sound of a wild snail eating.
