About MiEBDI

Miami University's Ecological Big Data Initiative (MiEBDI) in the College of Arts and Science facilitates student and faculty access to and analysis of ecological big data from around the world to address critical threats to ecosystems and the valuable services that they provide.

Job Description

Long-term lake temperature data for over 100 lakes have been collected, including measurements from the surface to the bottom of these lakes. In order to make these data available, MiEBDI is planning to publish a data paper in the journal Nature Scientific Data. Initial quality assessment of these data has already been completed, but more thorough quality checking is required. Further, there is a need to collect information from the several dozen co-investigators on how the metadata and temperature data were collected, as required for publication. CADS & MiEBDI are hiring a student to assist with these efforts.

Responsibilities include:

  • Check & prepare data for publication
  • Write associated information for publication

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience working with R, particularly quality checking data
  • Strong writing skills
  • Strong communication
  • Able to work independently
  • Commitment to work 10 hours/week

Preferred Qualifications

  • Interest in working with ecological big data
