CCA Guidelines for P.R.I.D.E. Awards

What is a P.R.I.D.E Award?

“Miami University encourages the recognition of excellent performance. The Miami P.R.I.D.E. Award, which stands for Performance Resulting In Distinguished Excellence, is a centrally-funded, monetary bonus program for Classified and Unclassified staff. Recognition of achievements and contributions has a considerable impact on employee satisfaction and retention. While not all forms of employee recognition involve compensation, the Miami P.R.I.D.E. Award is one method for supervisors to acknowledge significant achievements.”

What is the process for awarding P.R.I.D.E Awards in the CCA?

The CCA is allocated a budget annually to support P.R.I.D.E Awards for classified and unclassified staff in the division. In order to promote equity & transparency, nominations for awards will be reviewed annually rather than on a semi-annual or quarterly calendar. The Dean of CCA will appoint a review committee comprised of members of the dean’s staff to review nominations and provide recommendations. The final decision will be made by the dean. P.R.I.D.E Award winners will be recognized publicly at the end-of-year divisional meeting.

Awards may be made to one staff member in each category (classified/unclassified), or multiple staff, depending upon strength of nominations and availability of funding.

Nominations must be submitted via P.R.I.D.E. Nomination

do NOT submit an award in Process Maker.

Who can nominate a staff member for the P.R.I.D.E Award?

According to HR guidelines, “Any employee can nominate another employee for a P.R.I.D.E. award, with departmental approval. Most commonly, managers nominate their employees for the award program.”

What is the timeline?

The deadline for submitting nominations is March 15. Nominations may be submitted at any time but will not be reviewed until that deadline.

What information do I need to nominate a staff member?

Guidelines and appropriate reasons for nomination may be found at P.R.I.D.E Awards. Please note that the university accepts pride award nominations on a quarterly basis but the division has decided to submit annually.
