Child Life Specialist

The Child Life Specialist Graduate Certificate is designed for students who have already completed a bachelor’s degree and now wish to complete the necessary coursework to become eligible for certification as a child life specialist. This certificate includes courses in research methods, adolescent development, death/dying/bereavement, therapeutic play, and family systems. Students are also required to complete a field placement either in a healthcare or agency setting working with diverse children.

College Teaching

Earn a graduate certificate in College Teaching to better develop yourself as a teacher-scholar. Open to both graduate students and postdoctoral fellows alike, mentor-guided students will select courses in interdisciplinary pedagogy and learning theory in addition to discipline-specific teaching experiences. Students may be able to double count hours toward their degree pursuit.

Instructional Design and Educational Technology (Online)

The Graduate Certificate for Instructional Design and Educational Technology is intended to provide instructional designers and educators with core knowledge about the processes involved in the design, development, integration of technology-based instructional media, methods, and systems.

Mental Health Intervention Graduate Certificate

This certificate program will equip learners with theoretical knowledge of mental health intervention and counseling. It will also provide students with applied helping skills to support individuals’ well-being and mental health. The certificate does not lead to a professional license or certification.

Sport Analytics (Online)

The Graduate Certificate in Sport Analytics is designed for students who are interested in pursuing a career in sport analytics or adding data decision-making skills to existing careers. Students will learn about database management, analysis, and data visualization in sport performance and sport business analytics. This certificate applies to those in the fields of sport management, coaching, sport marketing, sales and sponsorship, strength and conditioning, and sport administration.

Sport Management

The Sport Management Graduate Certificate is designed to train students for management and leadership positions within the sports industry. With a focus on sport venue management, sport marketing, and strategic management of sport organizations, this graduate certificate program seeks to develop forward and innovative leaders for the future of the sports industry.

Sport Psychology

The Sport Psychology Graduate Certificate focuses on the study of psychological and social factors that influence sport and physical activity participation. Sport psychology involves the study of human thought, emotion, and behavior in recreational and competitive sports. This includes the study of individual processes such as motivational orientations, self-efficacy, and stress/anxiety, as well as social factors such as group processes, coaching, and leadership effectiveness.

Endorsements

Middle Childhood Generalist (ECE, Grades 4-6)

Enables candidates who hold an Ohio Middle Childhood license to teach one or two additional core subjects in Grades 4-6.

Computer Technology

Designed to prepare K-12 teachers to foster teacher coaches and facilitators in leveraging the power of technology and media to engage students in meaningful learning

Reading (Hybrid)

Provides the very latest in research and expertise for working with emergent and striving readers, including a supervised practicum. The endorsement certificate also provides insights into sociopolitical, cultural, and linguistic factors that affect literacy, and research practices that inform assessment and instructional design.

Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) (Online)

Prepares P-12 teachers to successfully engage English Language Learners (ELLs) in a teaching capacity. The courses emphasize real-world understanding of the cultural and language development issues facing ELLs, their families, and their teachers in schools.
