Thank you for your interest in the MA Economics program at Miami University. You may apply online for graduate study in economics. If you are an international student, please apply here.
Applicants should fulfill all of the following requirements:
- Applicants should have completed, with a grade of C or better: intermediate-level courses in microeconomic and macroeconomic theory, at least one course in calculus, and at least one course in statistics. Additional mathematics courses are strongly recommended.
- 3.0 overall GPA
- GRE scores* (GMAT scores are accepted in lieu of GRE scores.)
- TOEFL of 90 (International Students)
- 3 letters of recommendation

Applicants who are Miami undergraduates and applying for either the “3+1” or the traditional program will need to supply all required documents with the exception of the letters of recommendation. In lieu of letters of recommendation, students should sign a FERPA release authorizing us to speak with all of your economics professors. Once you have signed the FERPA release (obtained from Economics office), please submit the document to Misty Barrett at barretmd@MiamiOH.edu, and indicate this is for your MA application.
If you are a Miami Eco major interested in the “3+1” program, you may find more information here.
Applications will not be considered submitted and complete until all materials are added.
Domestic and International Students: applications must be compete and submitted (including GRE/GMAT/TOEFL) by February 1 for full consideration of financial aid
If you are interested in learning more, would like to schedule a campus visit or have questions, please request information.
*Miami students are not required to take the GRE for admission.
