The Global Readiness Certificate was embedded at Miami through the launch of college/school-specific cohorts, seen below.
Beginning in the Fall of 2023, the program will be open to applicants from any college or school on the Oxford, Hamilton, or Middletown campuses.
The GRC is a learner-centered curricular and co-curricular credential administered through small cohorts to ensure a supportive and personalized experience.
All requirements for this program must be approved in advance by the Center for American and World Cultures. A 2.5 minimum G.P.A. is required to receive the certificate upon graduation. The certificate includes components within 3 categories:
*International Students may use their current abroad experience at Miami to fulfill this requirement.
Students should apply in their first year, or the first semester of their second year to ensure they are able to complete the certificate alongside their undergraduate degree.
(Students following a non-traditional schedule, should ensure they will have a minimum of two years remaining at Miami after orientation, which occurs the semester after they apply.)
Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis throughout the year. Students will be notified of their status no more than three weeks after applying.
Students will be conditionally approved for the program after their application materials are reviewed. The certificate will be added to the student’s academic record after they successfully complete the required Orientation Learning Lab.
Students will work closely with their advisor in the Center for American & World Cultures in addition to those in their college/school to complete the certificate requirements.
Occasional cohort meetings and projects will be required in addition to a final project to culminate the student’s learning.
