Online Professional Development: ed2go

Miami offers non-credit online career and professional development programs through our partnership with ed2go, a national leader in accessible online education.

Online Career Training Certificate Programs

Miami University Global Initiatives, in partnership with ed2go, offers online open enrollment programs designed to provide the skills necessary to acquire professional level positions for many in-demand occupations.

Our programs are designed by a team of professionals from each respective field, providing you with effective web-based learning programs. Instructors/mentors are actively involved in your online learning experience, responding to any questions or concerns, as well as encouraging and motivating you to succeed.

Upon successful completion of all required coursework, you will receive a certificate of completion. Most courses provide you with the proof of education and the knowledge needed in order to be able to take the specified exams to become certified.

The Virtual Career Center offers support and guidance in taking the next step after completing your Career Training Program. It allows you to access industry market data, current job opportunities, and so much more.

Select Career Training Programs now include an optional externship following successful completion of your program, so you can obtain hands-on experience, bolster your resume, and break into your new career.

The fee for courses range from $499–$5995 with financial assistance available.

Online Professional Development Programs

Do you want to learn new skills in order to prepare for that new job? Do you want to refresh your knowledge of basic computer applications such as Microsoft Word or Excel all from the comfort of home? These courses are open to everyone, and Continuing Education under Global Initiatives, in collaboration with ed2go, offers a wide range of interactive online courses.

These online courses are affordable, convenient, and many qualify for Miami’s job enrichment program and offer 24 contact hours of instruction. Search this site to view the wide range of courses from computer applications such as Microsoft Word and Excel, to website development, customer service, and language courses such as Speed Spanish, to name just a few. These classes are not for college credit and may require additional supplies, computer software, and texts.

Ed2go offers Fundamentals courses with two learning modalities, instructor led and self-paced. These courses offer the same content with two learning styles in mind.

  • Instructor led courses are for students who prefer a structured learning pace with instructor guidance. Lessons are gated and released biweekly.
  • Self-paced tutorials are for students who prefer to learn at their own pace and are comfortable with self-guidance. Students gain access to all course material, quizzes and the final exam at the time of enrollment.

Info for Miami Staff

Since these are non-credit courses, Miami's tuition waiver does not apply. However, if you participate in Miami’s Job Enrichment Program (JEP) and are looking for learning opportunities, many departments will cover the cost of the courses when they pertain to the staff's job duties. If you are a Miami employee in which your department will be paying for your courses contact Katherine Wayt at waytkn@miamioh.edu or (513) 529-8606 to get registered. (Do not use your Miami p-card to register and pay.)

Please visit our Professional Development Online Instruction Center to see exact start dates for the courses that interest you. New course sessions begin each month.

Most courses range from $105–$129.
