Travel Risk Assessment Statement

Beginning April 20, 2021, the U.S. Department of State (DOS) revised the way that it calculates its country travel advisories. The DOS now aligns with the Travel Health Notices (THN) from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) as a primary measure to establish their travel advisories. Please note that this change in the DOS travel advisories does not signify a fundamental shift in the DOS assessment of risk in those locations.

As a result, Miami's approach will not be impacted by the DOS action—we will continue to use a variety of resources and data sources in making travel program go or no-go decisions, and we will make these decisions on a location-by-location contextual basis.
