Help Us Honor Professor Kate Ronald and Her Legacy

Photo of Kate Ronald gesturing at chalkboard.Professor Kate Ronald, beloved teacher, mentor, and colleague, passed away on October 27, 2020. Kate joined the Miami community in 1996 as the first Roger and Joyce L. Howe Professor of English and inaugural Director of the Howe Writing Initiative (now the Howe Center for Business Writing) in Farmer School of Business. For 20 years, until her retirement in Spring 2016, Kate helped faculty, graduate students, and undergraduates appreciate the importance and beauty of writing in all its forms. Her loss is felt deeply throughout Miami University and especially here at the Howe Center for Writing Excellence, which Kate directed for several years.

We hope you’ll join us in honoring Kate’s legacy by visiting the memorial webpage we’ve created for her. Use the interactive board there to share a personal tribute about how Kate has influenced you, and read tributes written by others. These tributes will eventually be incorporated into a book for Kate’s family. The page also has more information about Kate’s tenure at Miami, plus an overview of the new PhD fellowship being funded in her name and memory.
