Office of Liberal Education Staff

shelly.jpgDr. Shelly Jarrett Bromberg is the Director for the Office of Liberal Education. She has been at Miami for 19 years. Her research focuses on the Hispanic Caribbean with emphasis on the Dominican Republic and its Diaspora. She has been teaching for over 25 years primarily in Latin American Studies and Hispanic Literatures and Cultures.

Dr. Bromberg also loves working with students and dedicated faculty and staff in her role as director of Liberal Education. She also has two spoiled cats.


leighton-peterson90x135.jpgDr. Leighton Peterson is the Assistant Director for the Office of Liberal Education. He has been at Miami for 19 years. Dr. Leighton C. Peterson is Associate Professor of Anthropology. A linguistic and visual anthropologist working in the American southwest, Dr. Peterson specializes in Representational Practices, the Anthropology of Media, and Indigenous Language Vitality. He received his Ph.D. from University of Texas at Austin.


Dorothy FalkeDorothy Falke is the Administrative Assistant for the Office of Liberal Education. She has been at Miami University for 17 years. She enjoys shooting pool, riding motorcycles, reading, cooking, and baking and has two spoiled rotten cats. She is also continuing her education toward degrees in Accounting and Business Management Technology.

Dorothy loves working with the students, faculty, and staff here at Miami and assisting them with issues concerning the Global Miami Plan and Liberal Education.
