Miami University has been named 10th among employers in the state of Ohio on the 2021 America’s Best-In-State Employers list by Forbes and marketing research company Statista.

Miami is also the top educational institution on the list for Ohio.

The top three Ohio employers on the 2021 list are Procter & Gamble, Nationwide Children’s Hospital, and Microsoft.

“We are so honored to be chosen as a leading employer among such highly-regarded companies and organizations,” said Miami University President Gregory Crawford.

“Miami University purposefully cultivates an inspiring learning and working environment where our faculty and staff are afforded opportunities to participate in employee support initiatives, advance their careers, and find ways to achieve work-life balance while continuing to advance the university’s mission for student success.”

America's 2021 Best-In-State Employers were identified in an independent survey based on a sample of approximately 80,000 Americans working for companies with more than 500 employees in their U.S. operations. Surveys were administered from October 2020 to June 2021 using a series of online panels and provide a representative sample of the U.S. workforce.

The evaluation was based on direct and indirect recommendations from employees who were asked to rate their willingness to recommend their own employers to friends and family. Employees were asked to give their opinions on a series of statements surrounding work-related topics such as working conditions, salary, potential for development, and company image regarding their current employer. Employees were also asked to evaluate other employers in their respective industry and state that stood out either positively or negatively.

Miami University is the largest employer in Butler County with approximately 3,720 full-and part-time employees. The university adds $2.3 billion each year to Ohio’s economy through innovative partnerships and job creation.

Miami serves more than 21,600 undergraduates and more than 2,500 graduate students across its Oxford campus, regional campuses in Hamilton and Middletown, the Voice of America Learning Center in West Chester, and the John E. Dolibois European Center in Luxembourg.

This is the third year for the Forbes Best-in-State Employers list. Miami was also named to the list in 2020.

2021 Best-in-State Employers ranks the 1,330 employers that received the greatest number of recommendations in 50 states and the District of Columbia. For more information and to view the full list, go to www.forbes.com/best-employers-by-state
