Job Description

We are looking for a person to fill an open position as a Staff Accountant.

This is a full-time position requiring approximately 40 hours per week. Our regular office hours are 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday.

In your position as Staff Accountant, you will be responsible for:

  • processing and managing accounts payable and accounts receivable items;
  • entering accounting information into our timekeeping and accounting software (Practice Panther);
  • assisting with the generation and tracking of monthly billing and invoicing;
  • working with our outside CPA on tax and accounting matters.
You will also be responsible for managing the payment of renewal fees for our clients' patents and trademarks. These duties include:
  • monitoring a property database managed by an outside vendor;
  • corresponding with clients regarding upcoming renewals;
  • initiating payment of renewals though the outside vendor;
  • uploading new property information to the database.

Additional Duties

From time to time, we may also ask you to assist with certain clerical and administrative duties consistent with legal assistant responsibilities of an intellectual property law firm. These duties generally include, but are not limited to, assisting with the preparation and filing of patent and trademark applications and responses, preparing patent and trademark related documents, entry of docketing and time data, preparing correspondence to clients, and general typing and transcription.


The annual salary for this position is in the range of $35,000 and above, depending on experience level and suitability for the position.
