Marsha Robinson, PhD becomes New Ohio Academy of History President

Dr. Marsha RobinsonMarsha R. Robinson, PhD, is the new president of the Ohio Academy of History. Over the years, she served on several conference program committees, on the Executive Council and currently serves as editor of the Proceedings of the Annual Meeting of the Ohio Academy of History. Established in 1932, the Ohio Academy of History seeks to promote the development and dissemination of historical knowledge among the citizens and students of Ohio.

Marsha is an Assistant Teaching Professor at Miami University. She teaches World History, African American History, Women's History and Critical Race and Ethnic Studies. A member of the Miami University Department of Humanities and Creative Arts, she is affiliated with the Department of History, the Department of Interdisciplinary and Communication Studies and with the Department of Global and Intercultural Studies. She is the author of (2018) Disobedient Histories in Ancient and Modern Times: Regionalism, Governance, War and Peace and (2012) Matriarchy, Patriarchy and Imperial Security. She is the editor of (2013) Purgatory between Kentucky and Canada: African Americans in Ohio; (2013) Women Who Belong: Claiming a Female’s Right-Filled Place; and, (2012) Lesser Civil Wars: Civilians Defining War and the Memory of War. She has reviewed several books about Islam, gender and al-Qaeda, reviews that have been published in the following journals: American Historical Review, Terrorism & Political Violence, African Affairs, African Conflict and Peacebuilding Review, Journal of the Ottoman and Turkish Studies Association, and, elsewhere.
