Our Mission

The mission of Career Services & Professional Development (CSPD) is to assist all students, and other designated clients, through all phases of their career and professional development. CSPD will assist all students in developing, evaluating, and/or implementing career and professional development decisions and plans. CSPD will foster a career community of students, faculty, staff, alumni and employers that is engaged in creating and increasing career and development opportunities for all students. CSPD will disseminate, implement, and regularly review its mission and goals.

CSPD will diligently strive to

  • transform the outreach and activities on the Regional Campuses to support a career community of students, faculty, staff, alumni and employers.
  • disseminate educational and occupational information to aid students in their career and educational planning and their understanding of the world of work.
  • assist students in matters related to career, work performance, and professional development beginning in their first year and continuing through graduation.
  • offer workshops, forums, career fairs, open houses and discussions to assist students in learning job-search skills, effective candidate presentation skills, and networking skills.
  • develop and implement strategy to assist students in developing self-knowledge and taking personal responsibility in career and professional development activities.
  • assist students to gain experience through leadership, service, student employment, research projects, cooperative education, internships and other opportunities.
  • connect students to employment opportunities or entry into an appropriate educational, graduate or professional program.

Your Story

Each student's college journey is different, based on the individual's experiences, expectations, and life outside the classroom. We should assume that each of their stories, their goals, and the roads they take to reach them, will likely look different as well. It should be anticipated that each student will develop a more individualized approach / strategy in how they will experience their education both inside and outside the classroom. Our office is here to help students of all majors create a plan that supports the development of professional skills to connect them to career opportunities.
