Ann JamesAnn James, Ph.D., Director 

Ann earned her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Economics as well as her Master of Arts in Student Development from Appalachian State University in Boone, NC. She recently completed her PhD in College Student Personnel at the University of Louisville. Ann joined Miami in 2018 as the Director of the Office of Community Standards after serving most recently as the Sr. Associate Dean of Students and Deputy Title IX Coordinator at Northern Kentucky University. She has 18 years of professional experience in student affairs work and is grateful for the opportunity to serve students in this way. When she’s not at work, Ann enjoys spending time with her spouse and kiddo and herding her two cats.

Alex ButterfieldAlex Butterfield, M.Ed., Assistant Director

Alex is a 2016 graduate of Miami University with a B.A. in Strategic Communication. He earned his M.Ed. in Higher Education Administration from Kent State University, where he also served as a graduate assistant in the Office of Student Conduct. Prior to coming to Miami, Alex worked as an academic advisor for the School of Business and Economics at Indiana University East. During his undergraduate career at Miami, Alex was a student manager at Erickson Dining Hall and a resident assistant with the Celebrate the Arts Living Learning Community.

Zach TepperZach Tepper, M.A., Assistant Director

Zach joined the Office of Community Standards in 2020. Zach received a Bachelor of Arts in Women's Studies and Sociology from the University of Hawaii at Manoa, and a Master of Arts in Higher Education and Student Affairs from the University of San Francisco. Prior to his time at Miami University, Zach worked in the Office of Residence Life at Santa Clara University. When not at work, Zach enjoys hanging out with his dog or playing any installment in the Legend of Zelda franchise.

Wesley HighleyWesley Highley, M.A.T.S., Title IX Investigator 

Wesley is a 2006 graduate of Miami University with B.S. in Manufacturing Engineering and an M.A. in Theology from Liberty University in 2017. Wesley returned to Miami as the Title IX Investigator & Student Conduct Case Manager for the Office of Community Standards in August 2018. He comes to Miami from ten years of service to Housing & Residential Education at the University of Massachusetts – Dartmouth. During his undergraduate career at Miami, Wesley was a Resident Assistant, a SOUL, a member of the Club Ultimate Frisbee Team, and a referee at the Goggin Ice Center.

Terra CollinsTerra Troth, Community Standards Coordinator 

Terra is a graduate of Miami University (’14) and started working here in October of 2018. While a student at Miami, Terra was a writing tutor while she majored in Sociology. Prior to coming back to Miami, Terra worked for the Bureau of Vocational Rehabilitation with the state of Ohio. She is an animal lover and currently has three cats and a dog- all rescue animals. In her downtime, she enjoys spending time with her family, watching hockey (go Blue Jackets!) and being outdoors.

Kim SensKimberly Brindle, Administrative Associate 

Kim grew up in Oxford and attended Talawanda City Schools. She began working in Human Resources at Miami in 2002. She moved to Student Life in 2007 as the administrative support person for the Vice President of Student Life and moved to the Office of Community Standards in July of 2020

Kiana AsadaKiana Asada, Doctoral Associate

Kiana earned a Bachelor of Science in Community and Nonprofit Leadership from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She earned her Master of Science in College Student Personnel from Western Illinois University. Kiana started her doctoral degree in Student Affairs in Higher Education with an Associateship in the Office of Community Standards at Miami in August 2019. Outside of school and work, Kiana loves to be active through playing ultimate frisbee, going on hikes, and playing with her three year old german shepherd.

Dawson DelphDawson Delph, Practicum Graduate Associate

Dawson earned his Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a Minor in Political Science from Lincoln Memorial University in Harrogate, TN. In 2020, he moved to Hamilton to pursue a Master’s in Student Affairs and Higher Education. As an undergrad, Dawson worked primarily with First Year Experience in addition to the Dean of Students Office & Student Conduct. His passions include restorative justice, civil learning and democratic engagement. In his spare time, he loves to go on road trips, explore new destinations, and spend time with friends and family.
