Rebounding After First Semester

Students who struggle academically in their fall semester (GPA lower than 2.5) may be eligible for a spring semester academic support program. Review these resources below and contact us if you have any questions.

Students are eligible to participate in Miami Thrive

Miami Thrive is a two-credit hour, graded remote course offered from January 2-21. The course includes both synchronous Zoom class meetings (MTWR 1:15-2:15 p.m. EST) and asynchronous online modules.

In its pilot year (2022), every student who participated in this program improved their GPA in the spring semester and returned to Miami for the fall semester!

GPA is 1.0-1.99

Students are eligible to participate in Spring Launch.

Spring Launch is set for January 21, 2023 from noon to 5 p.m. During this innovative program, students will:

  • Review spring schedules.
  • Explore ways to achieve academic, social, and career goals.
  • Discuss major and success resources.
  • Build community with students and Miami staff.
  • Hear from current students, faculty, and staff who stumbled during their first semester and went on to have success.

Students can register for Spring Launch through an email invitation they received.

GPA is 0-.99

Students can enroll in the EDT 110 success course.

EDT 110: Learning Strategies for College Success is a 2-credit hour, semester long course designed to help students get back on track academically.

The course addresses topics like time management, study strategies, motivation, procrastination, and testing taking strategies.
