MADE at Miami

MADE at Miami is a pre-semester program designed to help first-year students get the most out of their Miami experience. We promote qualities valued by the university community—Mentoring, Achievement, Diversity, and Excellence. MADE at Miami is open to all incoming first-year undergraduate students, historically underrepresented populations or those who have a commitment to promoting a deeper understanding of and appreciation for diversity. Students representing different ethnic/racial, sexual orientation and gender identity, and socioeconomic backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

Rainbow Reception

An annual reception at the beginning of the school year to welcome the new and returning Miami LGBTQ+ and ally community. This event is an opportunity for faculty, staff, and students to meet new people, build community, and learn more about LGBTQ+ Initiatives and resources on campus.

Identity Awareness Days

Throughout the semester, the CSDI celebrates a variety of identity awareness days, including Bisexual, Ace, Arospec, Transgender Awareness, and more. Celebrations include student socials and deeper dives into the histories of these identities.

National Coming Out Day

Annually observed on October 11th, National Coming Out Day is an opportunity to celebrate and show support for the LGBTQ+ community. The event is an annual reminder that coming out is a revolutionary act that not everyone is in the position to do. 

Midwestern Bisexual, Lesbian, Gay, Trans, Ally College Conference (MBGLTACC)

he Midwest Bisexual, Lesbian, Gay, Transgender, Ally College Conference is an annual LGBTQIA+ conference that is hosted at a different Midwest college or University or affiliated organization each year. MBLGTACC is a three-day conference with a reputable, entertaining, and inspiring set of speakers and entertainers. Conference weekend has over 90 workshops and forums in which students, staff, faculty, and community members can attend. Conferences are also attended by over 2000 individuals each year.

Transgender Day of Remembrance

A day to remember those who have been lost as a result of transphobia and to call attention to the continued violence faced by the transgender community. 

LGBTQ+ Ambassadors

Ambassadors work with students and staff to form campus community, spread awareness about LGBTQ+ issues, and promote educational opportunities and events at Miami University. All ambassadors serve on a volunteer basis, based on the hours they predetermine.

Queer Book Club

In book club we read webcomics, young adult fiction, zines, fanfic, etc- whatever participants are most interested in. We also discuss our recs and antirecs - the things we’ve been reading that are amazing, and the things that we absolutely would not recommend.

Queer Shindig 

Our big end of the year celebration! Come play outdoor games like cornhole and frisbee, lounge on picnic blankets, and hang out with LGBTQIA+ students, faculty, and staff.

Lavender Graduation

An annual ceremony conducted on numerous campuses to honor lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer+ and ally students and to acknowledge and honor their achievements and contributions to the University. The Lavender Graduation Ceremony was created in 1995 at University of Michigan by Dr. Ronni Sanlo, a Jewish Lesbian, who was denied the opportunity to attend the graduations of her children because of her sexual orientation. We are delighted to continue this legacy and have you be a part of not only the national tradition, but also of our Miami tradition. Lavender Graduation is free and open to all members of the Miami University campus community.
