Lead with Wilks

Miami Strengths Project

One critical component of being a leader is understanding your values, how you communicate, how you partner with others, your passions, and your strengths and areas for improvement. The Gallup CliftonStrengths for Students online assessment is one useful tool to help you better understand your areas of talent that can turn into strengths. This assessment has helped more than 9 million people around the world discover their talents.

After you take the Gallup CliftonStrengths Finder, you'll receive a customized report that lists your top five talent themes, along with action items for development and suggestions about how you can use your talents to achieve academic, career, and personal success.

The Wilks Institute for Leadership and Service is proud to say that many of their programs and experiences are designed and led by students. C-SEAL Ambassadors are often students that have been engaged with Wilks programming in the past, and have a strong connection to leadership and community engagement.

Our C-SEAL Ambassadors support number of initiatives including:

  • Civic engagement and voter registration
  • Community partnership development
  • Volunteer coordination
  • Training and leadership development
  • Interfaith community engagement
  • Program coordination (including retreats and workshops)

Becoming a C-SEAL Ambassador

As we continue to grow, we will be looking for students who are passionate about their communities and who believe in ethical leadership. We look for students who are curious, reflective, passionate, and driven. Our C-SEAL Ambassadors have often engaged with one or more Wilks programs, and have sought out ways to continue their learning.

C-SEAL Ambassadors are paid positions, made possible in part by the generous support of: Harry T. Wilks, Ford Family Initiative, Campus Election Engagement Project, Andrew Goodman Foundation, and Joslin Service Fund.

Miami hosts over 100 student organizations focused on service and volunteerism. The Wilks Institute and Student Activities are working together to create a collaborative of student organizations focused on community engagement, volunteerism, service, and social impact. Our goal is to develop an environment where service-oriented student organizations can chat about their plans, projects, and partnerships, and work together to prioritize the needs and goals of the community. Membership in the collaborative will include gatherings 1-2 times per semester and access to professional development opportunities.

Organizations only need to send one representative to the collaborative. If you are a member of a student organization focused on community engagement, service, or volunteerism and would like to join the collaborative, please email us at WilksLeadership@MiamiOH.edu.
