In Fall 2021, Miami University will launch the Honors College, an exceptional and intensive research-focused program guided by Miami’s most accomplished faculty, which will take the place of the University Honors Program. Afforded experiences that are typically reserved for students in graduate programs, Miami’s Honors College students will complete rigorous, scholarly curricular requirements, produce a thesis or major project that meets the quality of publishable or professional work by the time that they graduate, reside in Miami’s only traditional residential college setting, and pursue at least one guaranteed and extraordinary experiential learning opportunity (such as study abroad, undergraduate research, internships, and/or community service). Any prospective student interested in applying to participate in Honors at Miami for Fall 2021 or beyond should visit the Honors Programs Application Process page to learn more about this opportunity or the Honors College Visit & Connect page to schedule a prospective student meeting.

Our mission in the Honors College will be to foster rigorous academic inquiry in a community of learners through innovative teaching and learning, an engaging interdisciplinary and research-oriented curriculum, creative and critical inquiry with talented faculty, and diverse leadership and service opportunities. In their first and potentially second years, honors students will live in Miami’s only residential college, which will be located on Western Campus, where they will work together to shape the nature of the Honors community moving forward. There will be new Honors courses, new Honors-exclusive study abroad programs, new opportunities for faculty mentorship, and new venues in which students can live, learn, and lead.

For Honors students, the Honors College is more than a prestigious title and additional requirements. It is having unparalleled opportunities to work side-by-side with our best professors on cutting edge research, travel to the far reaches of the globe to put theory into practice, and develop exhilarating projects that create new knowledge and may even change the world. It is a network of intelligent peers, connected through Honors courses and residence halls. Honors at Miami challenges students to develop their full potential by collaborating with dedicated advisors and faculty members to complete Honors College requirements that best support their intellectual, academic, personal, and professional growth and development.
