Stasi Documents about Vladimir Putin
Vladimir Putin worked in the KGB in East Germany from 1985-90. During this time, he had many interactions with East German officials from the secret police, called the Stasi. While the KGB documents about Putin were destroyed, or taken back to the USSR, many of the Stasi documents fell into Western hands when the country was reunited. Here it is possible to see the barest traces of Putin’s engagement in East Germany, his contacts, and his circle, some of whom like Marcus Warnig and Sergey Chemezov, remain critical today.
