Aversa Prentosito receives Dotcom-Monitor Scholarship

Aversa Prentosito, sophomore computer science major, is the recipient of this year's Dotcom-Monitor Women in Computing Scholarship.

Dotcom-Monitor’s goal is to motivate and support female undergraduate students who are pursuing careers in the computing field by helping with the cost of higher education. Aversa Prentosito with her scholarship check from Dotcom-Monitor

On campus, Prentosito demonstrates excellence in the field through her involvement in various academic activities. She is a member of the Lockheed Martin Leadership Institute, as well as the co-vice president of Girls Who Code and the treasurer of the Association of Computing Machinery for Women (ACM-W).

Additionally, Prentosito is a member of the CSE Advisory Council and Society of Women Engineers (SWE). Most recently, she was initiated into Tau Beta Pi, the engineering honor society.

In 2019, she became the first woman to win the Undergraduate Novice division of the Miami CSE Programming Contest.

This summer, Prentosito will hold an internship in the field of cyber software with Northrop Grumman to continue to improve her skills.
