Dr. Leah Wasburn-Moses visits Washington D.C. to present Campus Mentors program

Leah Wasburn-Moses, Professor of Special Education recently traveled to Washington D.C. to present the Campus Mentors program to Venicia Richardson, the Director of Teacher Quality for the US Department of Education.

Leah Wasburn-Moses picture with Mary HornerThe Campus Mentors program was designed in 2009 by Leah Wasburn-Moses, in partnership with teachers and administrators at Talawanda School District and Butler Technology and Career Center. It is a service learning program that prepares students for the future by helping them succeed today. Campus Mentors has been starting to gain more national recognition, as it recently won an “Innovation” award from the American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education (AACTE). The next step for the Campus Mentors program is continuing to scale at a national level.

While Leah was in Washington D.C. she also caught up with Mary Horner, a Miami alum who is currently working as the Press and Staff Assistant to Senator Rob Portman.
