University Senate action

On Nov. 4, 2013, University Senate adopted four resolutions by voice vote:

SR 14-03

                BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED that University Senate endorse the proposed analytics co-major.

SR 14-04

                BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED that University Senate endorse the proposed energy co-major.

SR 14-05

                BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED that University Senate endorse the proposed revisions to the Bylaws of University Senate, Section 6.C.4.a, Committee Structure of University Senate, Advisory Committees of University Senate, Council on Diversity and Inclusion, as set forth below:

6.C.4.a          The Council on Diversity and Inclusion shall be composed of:

Five (5) administrative staff positions:

  • The Associate Vice President for Institutional Diversity.
  • The Senior Administrative Director of the Office of Diversity Affairs or his or her designee.
  • The Assistant Vice President for Institutional Diversity will serve as Chair of theCouncilThe Director of the Office of Equity and Equal Opportunity or his or her designee.
  • The Director of the Center for American and World Cultures.
  • The Director of the Women's Center

The Executive Committee of University Senate, in consultation with the Associate Vice President for Institutional Diversity, shall nominate Council members and shall appoint one member as the committee chair...

                FURTHERMORE, that the proposed revisions become effective immediately.

SR 14-06

                BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED that University Senate endorse the proposed revisions to the Bylaws of University Senate, Section  6.B.3.a, Committee Structure of University Senate, Standing Committees of University Senate, Academic Program Review Committee, as set forth below:

6.B.3.a          Academic Program Review Committee

…Membership shall be for a term of two (2) years, with half of the members of the Committee selected each year.  Faculty and students whose department or program will be reviewed within the term may be appointed to the Committee but shall not be appointed to the Committee serve on a subcommittee that reviews his or her department or program.  Nominations shall normally be submitted for approval to University Senate no later than the last regularly scheduled Senate meeting of the academic year preceding that in which new members will begin to serve.  

                FURTHERMORE, that the proposed revisions become effective immediately.

The next meeting of University Senate is scheduled for 3:35-5:15 p.m. Dec. 2, 111 Harrison Hall.

Twenty-five members of Faculty Assembly can challenge the resolutions by filing a petition with the Office of the University Secretary during the ten class days after publication in the e-Report.
