Western campus narrowed lanes and sidewalk closures to continue

As part of the ongoing Western campus site improvement project, the following work is ongoing along Spring St., State Route 73 and Patterson Ave. through Aug. 20. No vehicle lane closures are expected; however, expect narrowed travel lanes on Spring St. and Patterson Ave. and sidewalk closures.

Spring St. curb and gutter replacement (between Maple St. and Campus Ave.) is scheduled to be completed June 27.

  • Narrowed vehicle travel lanes are expected - no lane closures.
  • No parking along Spring St. between Campus Ave. and Patterson Ave. until further notice.

Spring St. south side sidewalk between Maple St. and Patterson Ave. is scheduled to be open June 18.

  • Please continue to use sidewalk on the north side of Spring St. for east-west movements.
  • Periodic closures to the Shriver loop drive can be expected.

Spring St. curb and gutter on the north side between Maple St. and Patterson Ave. will be reconstructed end of June.  

  • No lane closures, but expect narrowed travel lanes.

The sidewalk along the west side of Patterson Ave. from the Shriver Center driveway to Bishop Circle will be closed for construction between June 18 and July 18.

  • Use Maple St. or the Route 73 crosswalk east of Patterson for N/S movements.

The sidewalk along the east side of Patterson Ave. from Bachelor Hall to the Pulley Tower will be closed for construction between June 18 and July 18.

  • Use Maple St. or the Route 73 crosswalk east of Patterson for N/S movements.

The Bachelor Hall parking lot will be closed June 23 to July 7 and again July 11 to July 29.

  • Use Cook field lot as the alternate.

Western Drive (via Bachelor Hall) from Patterson Ave. to the Western site construction gate will be closed July 11 to July 29.

  • No Access to the Bachelor Parking Lot or Patterson Place during this time.

Curb and gutter will be constructed on the south side of Route 73 between June 18 and July 20.

  • Expect narrowed travel lanes.

A new traffic signal will replace the existing traffic signal at Patterson/ Spring/ and route 73/. Work will take 2 weeks and occur at the end of July beginning of August.

  • Expect narrowed travel lanes.

The crosswalk (and ADA ramps) at McGuffey Drive has shifted west 70 feet.

Repaving of Spring Street between Patterson Ave. and College Ave. by the City of Oxford is expected to begin mid July and end beginning of August.

As part of the campus Circulation Master Plan, Spring St. between Patterson Avenue and Campus Ave. will be transformed into a "Complete Street" where vehicles, buses, bicycles and pedestrians are all given safe, attractive and comfortable access for travel. The city will be paving Spring St. at the end of July and new pavement striping and signage will be placed.
