Discovery Center (formerly the Discovery and Ohio's Evaluation and Assessment Centers) to host open house celebrating recent merger

Miami University's Discovery Center for Evaluation, Research, and Professional Learning (formerly the Discovery and Ohio's E & A Centers) will host an open house 3-7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 4, to celebrate their recent merger.

Visit the newly renovated space of the center in 408 McGuffey Hall. During the event, guests can learn about available evaluation, research and professional learning services and support offered by the center. The event is open to the public, and no reservations are required.

For more than 24 years, the two centers shared organizational facilities, worked collaboratively, and shared a mutual dedication to improving mathematics and science teaching and learning.

The two centers decided to formally merge in Spring 2015, becoming the Discovery Center for Evaluation, Research, and Professional Learning. The new, unified Discovery Center’s mission is to provide comprehensive, high-quality research, evaluation, assessment, and professional development services to improve teaching and learning and promote equity in opportunity, access and outcomes for all learners.

“The vision for merging the Discovery and E & A Centers was to build upon the synergistic relationship of these two sister centers and extend their existing infrastructure to collaborate more directly with other similar centers,” said Sarah Woodruff, director.
