Miami's physical facilities department will conduct a test Tuesday, Aug. 9, to gauge preparedness in the event the university is asked to assist in a regional electrical emergency situation.

Although these situations are rare, it is important to reduce our electrical consumption during the test while meeting our primary function of educating students. The test will be conducted on the Oxford campus noon-1 p.m. that day. People may notice a slight room temperature increase during this time as staff attempt to manage the electric load.

The university community is asked to contribute by turning off and unplugging all electronic devices that are not essential for that hour (e.g. lights, coffee makers, chargers, computers etc.).
