A year of special events and activities to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Miami University Regionals’ Middletown campus continues with Jeff Sommers’ lecture “A ‘Human-among-Humans’ Pose: Being Shaped by the Middletown Campus” at 7 p.m. Friday, March 3, in the Miriam G. Knoll Community Center.

He returns to the campus where he served as an English faculty member from 1981–2008 and reflects on changes he has seen at the campus and in higher education more broadly over the last several decades.

Sommers, a nationally known educator and Carnegie Scholar, is the original coordinator of Miami Middletown's Center for Teaching and Learning, a former associate dean, and winner of Miami's Knox Distinguished Teaching Award. Most recently, he completed a 10-year run as editor of Teaching English in the Two-Year College.

The event is free and open to the public, but an RSVP online is encouraged. A reception will follow.
