Oxford, Miami examine "Risky Drinking" with film and forum

Risky Drinking posterStudents, faculty, staff and community members are invited to communitywide screenings of the HBO documentary “Risky Drinking” and to a forum on high-risk alcohol consumption April 25-27.

Two screenings of “Risky Drinking” are scheduled:

• 4:30-6:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 25, in Wilks Theater, Armstrong Student Center.

• 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, April 26, at Talawanda High School, 5301 University Park Blvd.

Thursday, April 27, Miami Provost Phyllis Callahan invites all to a forum on student high-risk alcohol consumption led by faculty and staff, 4:30-5:45 p.m. in 152 Shideler.

Parking passes are available for the on-campus events. Parking is also available at the high school.

The panel for the April 27 forum will include Rebecca Baudry Young, director of student wellness; Ritch Hall, psychologist and coordinator of substance abuse services; Aaron Luebbe, associate professor of psychology; and Rose Marie Ward, professor of kinesiology and health. Dean of Students Mike Curme will moderate.

All are members of Miami’s Alcohol Coordinating Committee.

The three-day series of events continue Miami and Oxford’s semesterlong conversation about high-risk alcohol consumption by students.
