Miami University welcomes "Cincinnati Edition" to campus

ce-in-oxfordWVXU FM’s popular show “Cincinnati Edition” is coming to Miami University for two special broadcasts on Wednesday, March 7. Both will be held in the Andy and Mara Gloor Auditorium in the Athletic Performance Center north of Yager Stadium. 

Cincinnati Edition” is a talk show featuring discussion among a panel of experts and an opportunity for the audience to ask questions. The show is hosted by Mark Heyne.

The live broadcast at 1 p.m. will focus on topics surrounding aging, including the growing population of elders in Southwest Ohio. Experts will also offer advice about long-term health care, managing finances and enjoying an active social life. Panelists are:

  • Bob Applebaum, director, Ohio Long-Term Care Research Project and professor of sociology and gerontology and Scripps research fellow.
  • Ross Farnsworth (Miami ’09), executive director, The Knolls of Oxford.
  • Suzanne Kunkel, executive director, Miami’s Scripps Gerontology Center and University Distinguished Professor.
  • Jane Karnes Straker, director of research and senior research scholar, Scripps Gerontology Center.

Another program will be recorded at 4 p.m. and aired at a later date; It will focus on the changes of journalism in a constant news cycle. Panelists include:

  • Mark Curnutte (Miami ’84), race and community reporter, Cincinnati Enquirer and adjunct professor of sociology and gerontology.
  • Christopher Kelley, lecturer, political science.
  • Patricia Gallagher Newberry, area director of Miami’s journalism program.
  • Tana Weingartner (Miami ’07), reporter and digital news editor, WVXU.

Seating is limited, and tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Please register if you would like to be a member of either audience.

WVXU is part of Cincinnati Public Radio, which also manages the signal for the Miami-owned WMUB 88.5 FM.
