Miami University announces 2018 President's Distinguished Service Award recipients

Annual award given to exceptional graduating seniors

Miami University President Gregory Crawford will honor 17 students whose service through campus life, community service, intellectual and cultural leadership or student employment demonstrate the spirit of being a citizen leader of uncommon quality.

The 2018 President’s Distinguished Service Award recognizes outstanding students who graduated in December 2017 or January 2018, or are set to graduate in May or August 2018.

This year’s honorees and their majors are:

  • Virginia Agee, history.
  • Cecilia Burtis, sociology and Spanish double major.
  • Antonia Caba, public health.
  • Allison Fugger, business economics.
  • Davaughn Golden, political science.
  • Shannon Golden, liberal studies.
  • Hannah Kuethe, integrative studies and applied social science double major.
  • Mary Martin, social work.
  • Maryah Martin, criminal justice.
  • Patrick Meidenbauer, marketing.
  • Morgan Rice, finance.
  • Laura (Dannie) Roberts, kinesiology and community nutrition double major.
  • Brianne Safer, psychology.
  • Angela Sargent, black world studies and political science double major.
  • Alexis Sigler, sports leadership and management.
  • Cameron Snyders, marketing.
  • Annie Weidner, marketing, music, and psychology triple major.

Recipients, who were selected from a pool of more than 40 nominees, will be given their award at a ceremony April 15. The award is sponsored by the Miami Family Fund and includes a medallion that can be worn with commencement regalia.

Nominations for this annual award come from faculty and staff across all Miami campuses and are a part of the Student Service Leadership Award program. Started in 1985, this is the 34th year of the President’s Distinguished Service Award.
