The Miami University Police Department will host its annual Campus Safety Fair from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 20, in the atrium of Armstrong Student Center, near Lux Café.

Students will be able to talk with MUPD officers and meet their K-9, Figo.

Refreshments and information on many safety programs will be available.

Some participating organizations include HAWKS Peer Health Educators and IT services.

Students can register to win prizes.

This fair occurs during National Campus Safety Awareness Month. All members of Miami’s community are encouraged to learn about how to respond to a variety of emergencies at miamioh.edu/emergency.

The safety fair is one day before Miami's annual Emergency Notification System test.

Smart911

Since cell phone numbers do not indicate location like landline telephones do when calling 9-1-1 for help, Miami University police recommend people use the Smart911 service now available in Butler County when needing emergency services.

Users can enter as much information as they want into the system, such as a local address, car make and model, and phone numbers of relatives.
